Our work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity. What inspired you to work with Hometree?
We have a long standing relationship with Matt and Mitch from their time in Moyhill Community Farm and had cooked for different events on the farm over the years. Every trip down to West Clare was always extremely rewarding and great for the soul. It has been on the cards for many years for us to become a partner of their work.

You will not see some of the trees you are planting reach maturity, what has inspired such a long term vision?
Having just finished the incredible book “An Irish Atlantic Rainforest” by Eoghan Daltun I feel more inspired than ever to leave a positive long term impact on our landscape and the native species that still inhabit it. It is a large part of what motivates us to grow our business. The concept of earning to give definitely resonates. In 2020 during the pandemic when all felt lost in our industry we committed that if we ever get back on our feet we would give 10% of our annual profits to charity. We intend to stick to that commitment and the wild Atlantic rainforest project Hometree are carrying out we expect will always be on our minds at year end.

Have there been any key moments you can share about how you or your organisation decided to support a more abundant and healthier world?
A key moment in our journey so far was the funding, in Spring 2023, of a Polytunnel at Hometree HQ (and native tree nursery) the Polytunnel will have the potential to grow 70,000 native tree saplings a year which we are extremely proud of. We took our team down to finish the build on St Patrick’s Day 23’ and it was an exceptionally satisfying and enjoyable weekend. We are looking forward to many more weekends like this!

Would you like to share any key lessons life has taught you?
To coin several cliches… Life has thought me to be patient, that it’s about the journey not the destination, that things have a way of working themselves out, and if you make decisions for the right reason at every stage you can’t go too far wrong.
